The site plan for Pecan Grove Park was approved by the Rowlett City Council. The plan was developed after a public meeting and site visit in August. The feedback was presented to the city’s parks advisory board. The project is funded in part by a 2018 bond election. The bond election provided the Parks and Recreation department with $400,000 for phase one. To cover the remaining costs, the parks department applied for a local grant through Texas Parks and Wildlife.
Another great place to enjoy a walk or a bike ride is the park’s walking trail. The 1.5-mile loop trail begins at the recreation center and features a paved surface with a gradual grade. The path travels through a heavily wooded area near a lake before opening to a large grassy field. The proximity to a lake likely means you’ll encounter plenty of birds on this trail. Once you’ve completed the loop, you’ll be ready for the next adventure!
Another great spot for a walk inideos to kno the Lake Ray Hubbard trail, which spans 6.4 miles of scenic lake views. The lake is a recreational destination, as well as a fishing spot and water supply for the surrounding cities. Driving directions to Pecan Grove Park from downtown Dallas should take I-30 east and exit at Dalrock Rd. From there, follow the road until it merges with Highway 66.
